Daphne Joy was born and raised in the heart of Olongapo, Philippines to parents of Filipino and Puerto Rican decent. At the age of 7, Daphne’s family relocated to Los Angeles, and despite the language barriers and overall culture shock, Daphne Joy was able to completely readjust to her surroundings. Because of her natural beauty, easy going personality and wit she was able to make friends and adapt to the “American” way of life quite easily. She was known to be the quiet type, but Daphne was always intrigued with modeling and watching her favorite actresses in movies, tv, and film and always dreamed of gracing magazine covers like her favorite childhood inspirations.
While attending elementary through high school Daphne became captivated by American Pop Culture, of movies, film, acting and dance. As a teenager Daphne Joy’s exotic dark and unique features was frequently catching the attention acting agents and casting directors and was approached wherever she went, wether she was at the movies, mall, at restaurants, or even the grocery store. This led the spark for Daphne to actively get more involved and excelling on all facets be it dance groups, choir, plays, cheerleading, or talent shows.
At the age of 18, Daphne was able to officially pursue her passion for working in front of the camera and was quickly embraced and adored by the film industry landing roles on hit shows such as CSI: Las Vegas, Criminal Minds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and was most recognized on MTV’s hit serious”WildnOut” with Nick Cannon for 4 Seasons, as a VJ/Dancer. Daphne’s exotic looks soon became sought after and requested in more than a few A-List recording artists’ music videos and photoshoot spreads. Along with national print campaigns, such as Ed Hardy swimwear Summer ’09 collection, and has graced over 10 magazine covers and numerous magazine features internationally. Daphne has always had a passion for hosting and VJ and got to showcase her skills on her first on-air tv show for “Wealth on Wheels: Car Edition,” for Wealth TV, and is currently working on a popular web and TV hosting series for a major Martial arts network. Daphne Joy also lends her time modeling in charity fashion shows such as the annual Celebrity Catwalk which raises awareness for sheltered and abused cats and dogs.
Poised, intelligent and articulate Daphne is sought after in major entertainment hubs i.e. Miami, Canada, New York, Los Angeles & Las Vegas to host major parties as well as celebrity charity events. Daphne’s most recent achievement in her film career is her debut as a principal Mermaid in Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” starring Johnny Depp which is the fourth installment for the successful Disney franchise.
